El Lissitzky ‘’Beat the Whites with the Red Wedge’’ (1919) Роза Жукова

‘’Beat the Whites with the Red Wedge’’ is one of Lissitzky's earliest attempts at propagandistic art. He produced this politically charged work in support of the Red Army shortly after the Bolsheviks had waged their revolution in 1917. The red wedge symbolized the revolutionaries, who were penetrating the anti-Communist White Army. Here Lissitzky uses his signature coded color combination of red, white and black, which reinforces the message indicated by the work's title. Colors and shapes take on directly symbolic significance. For example, the smooth, curvilinear walls of the white circle are pierced by the sharp point of the red triangle: the Red Army has pierced the defenses of the White Army. Dramatic color contrasts also create confusion regarding space. Meanwhile, small geometric forms in the limited color scheme float like tiny projectiles through the space along with text. Here, basic forms combine with actual text: painting and typography are fused. This work is an important precursor to Lissitzky's Prouns, when Suprematist art moved onto a three-dimensional visual plain.

Marc Chagall ‘’I and the Village’’ (1911) Диана Шеламова

This early work clearly shows both the Cubist and Fauvist influences at play in Chagall's canvas, yet unlike the works of Picasso or Matisse, Chagall is far more playful and liberal with decorative elements, creating a pastoral paradise out of the Russian countryside. It is an early sign of the approach that would make the artist famous and influential: a blend of the modern and the figurative, with a light, whimsical tone. Chagall depicts a fairy tale in which a cow dreams of a milk maid and a man and wife (one upright, one upside down) frolic in the work fields. Abstraction is at the heart of this work, but it exists to decorate the picture rather than invite analysis of the images.

"On the bookshelf"
I’ll say some words about one of his awesome pictures, called “On the bookshelf”. It is so realistic, that there is a very interesting feeling suddenly arises inside. You want immediately touch all of these things, which, seems, came from your childhood. The artwork brings bitter-sweet memories of the past, the excitement of the meeting with an old friend or wish to hold some of your old toys. It transfers you to the past, just like the time-machine. Teddy, toy airplane, old books - all of them look forgotten on the bookshelf, forgotten in the past. But they’ll always be a good and pleasant memories and symbols of the childhood for all of the people.
Emotional and elegant – would be the words best describing this art.

Not long ago, Sergei Marshennikov’s paintings were sold through auctions Christie's of London and Bonham's in Knightsbridge. His works are in a great demand and prices on them are constantly rising. They are Museum of Modern Art (El Paso), in The Grace Museum (Abilene) and in private collections in Russia, England, Denmark, France and Japan, Golden Dreams. Personally I am fond of of “Sleeping Beauty”. I think it wonderful painting full of love, tenderness and adoration to woman. For me, it feels like he’s in love with this woman and wants to depict it, let her see how perfect she is. Sleeping girl is a symbol of tenderness, sensuality and femininity. She is his ideal woman and this soft and sensual painting shows it.

Stanislav Plutenko(Валерия Тюрина)

He was born in 1961 in Moscow. Plutenko is Soviet and modern Russian painter and graphic artist.

He has been fond of drawing and painting since the childhood, but his parents insisted on education in Moscow Automechanical Institute.

But later he graduated from the Moscow University of National Economy, taking lessons in painting from private masters. He defines his style in qoute: «See the extraordinary and make it still more extraordinary». Artist works with a mixed technique employing oil, tempera, acrylic, watercolour in genre of surrealism.

I think from every picture comes very strong energy. Each composition is full of sense of reality thanks to the characters' mimicry, gesture and pose which are well-transferred.

"Birding" by Alexandro Paperno Наталия Гребенкина

There is a new and a very interesting project in the modern art of Alexandra Paperno which is called "BIRDING"
It tells how difficult it is to find a way in the modern world full of navigation systems, to find your inward direction that cannot be seen but that reminds of a way that birds accurately follow in the sky.
Images of birds, stealing and reappearing in the layers of painterly space, with their contourlike laconic shapes, remind of V-marks left by someone on the margins of a school notebook—seemingly fitting into a certain semiotic system.
The surface of the painings is multilayered, paint alternates with thin rice paper, mounted so as to appear translucent. Paper works as a glaze, multiple thin layers create depth, and the subtle tones seep through each other, contributing to the overall shimmering effect—which creates an illusion of beating wings.

The artist said about his works that it is a flow of time and his impact on reality. For example, all what is created by people - process, geometrically formed, painted glossy over time comes inexorably back to square one, and nature makes it in natural forms. The point is that our nature can’t stand violent things like man-made expansion. All his peaces include sarcasm and irony. The Germans believe his works are related to mystical realism, but Yuri determines the genre as a reflexive realism.
